Our seminar on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, was an open discussion about the four global forces mentioned in the book, World of 2050. These four global forces were: demography, globalization, human's demand on natural resources, and climate change. Although the debate started off rather slowly with only a couple of people actively talking, the others soon, with the encouragement of a few of the seniors, began to participate. People began to pose questions while the rest of the class contributed as a group to offer a solution. This seminar had its good parts such as having everybody participate despite the fact that some people only spoke once. I felt like the questions were also sophisticated enough for the first seminar, however, they can be worked on in the future. There are many possible improvements we can make. First, we need more concrete statistics in the future not just a general idea of what something is like. Also, many people were arguing points without substantial evidence or a point behind it. This resulted in constant rambling and people starting and ending with the exact same thing. However, the majority of the arguments had a general idea behind them. Thus, the seminar overall went pretty well although with several rough patches.
